Petite Coterie~Valentine’s Day Giveaway

I opened my Etsy shop in November of 2008. I started with my burlap pillows, as I loved many of the vintage grain sacks and I felt this would be an affordable way to have something similiar. I told my husband I would be happy if I could just sell 5 pillows a week. Much to my surprise I sold more then 5.

I love things that have a time worn look, a little faded, a pillow that looks like it has been around for a century. My inspiration usually comes at night when I am trying to fall asleep. I find myself getting up and either drawing the design out or laying it out on my computer. The designing is really my favorite part of the process.

I would encourage everyone who has an interest in having their own shop to jump right in. Try to find a niche that you have a passion for, be original and have fun with your ideas. I don’t believe that you need to have many items, just have items that all speak to each other. Your customers will then understand the concept and hopefully will buy multiple items. Most importantly enjoy what you do.
